Use the Talk app with video video calls on your instance
Introduction.
The Talk application with videoconferencing allows you to create conversations to which you can invite other users from your instance as well as external users. These discussions can be written, and calls can also be initiated.
This documentation presents the options related to videoconferencing, initiating a call, and its options.
The basic features related to Talk, from creating a conversation to managing participants, are described in this documentation.
Starting and operating a call.
The Start Call button in a conversation allows you to prepare to start the call.
These options allow you to configure the devices that will be used for audio and video during the call.
The Call without Notification button allows you to start a call without notifying participants, which can be useful for conversations where many participants have joined a conversation without all of them needing to participate in the meeting.
Other participants can join the call using the Join Call buttons. In addition, we note that the account that started the call is visible with the status In a call.
When multiple participants join the call, they appear on the interface. The written discussion is always visible on the right-hand side.
The following information appears at the top of the interface, allowing you to:
- Display the duration of the current call.
- Display the number of participants who have joined the call.
- Apply reactions to the call.
- Turn your microphone on or off.
- Turn your camera on or off.
- Enable screen sharing.
- Other options are available by clicking on ..., some of which are only available to conversation moderators.
Screen sharing can be configured by clicking on the button associated with this option. The web browser will then ask you to choose between sharing a tab, a window, or the entire screen.
This display may vary depending on the web browser used.
Since the call is visible to the other participant, we can clearly see the shared screen.
Finally, a participant can leave the call, and the conversation moderator can also decide to end the call for all participants.
