# Rclone: interact with your Leviia object storage (S3 compatible)

Rclone is a powerful data management tool. It is available on most systems, yet is a mature and reliable tool. Among other things, it can be used to synchronize, transfer and mount files in file systems.

It's a tool commonly used for scripting, or simply when you want a single application to manage several clouds.

To install Rclone on your system, visit https://rclone.org/downloads/.

Once installed, open Rclone from the command line.

| Tip for using Rclone on Windows: you can open a command prompt and drag the previously downloaded "rclone.exe" file into the command prompt window. The path to the file should appear, enter a space, then type "config" and press Enter.

Then proceed with configuration as follows.

```html
No remotes found, make a new one?
n) New remote
s) Set configuration password
q) Quit config
n/s/q> n
```

```html
Enter name for new remote.
```

We'll call this connection "LeviiaS3", but that's just an example.

This ACL is used for creating objects and if bucket_acl isn't set, for creating buckets too.
For more info visit https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/acl-overview.html#canned-acl
Note that this ACL is applied when server-side copying objects as S3
doesn't copy the ACL from the source but rather writes a fresh one.
If the acl is an empty string then no X-Amz-Acl: header is added and
the default (private) will be used.
Choose a number from below, or type in your own value.
Press Enter to leave empty.

   \ (bucket-owner-read)

With the connection now established, we try to apply the "ls" command to rclone as shown below:

```html
ls LeviiaS3:
```

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/7181a953295a4800/rclonelsleviias3_h66uty.png)

The command allows us to view the contents of the object storage to which we are connected, in this case, a bucket named "exampledebucket" had previously been created.

You can find all Rclone documentation, such as synchronization, copying, mounting etc., on these pages: https://rclone.org/docs/ and https://rclone.org/s3/

To use Rclone as a graphical interface, type `rclone rcd --rc-web-gui`.
